NBC’s Today Show segment, “Sales of Mega-Mansions on the Rise,” features Architect Brian Biglin’s Le Palais des Anges in Beverly Hills.

This recent story on NBC’s Today Show explores the high-end real estate market. While the pricing of “Mega-Mansions” has not been completely untouched by the housing crisis facing the nation, this segment explores the reasoning behind a boom in the high-end real estate market.

The exclusive Beverly Hills residence, Le Palais des Anges, is currently on the market with The Umansky Group for upwards of $55,000,000.

“[There are] bargains across the board,” Umansky states. “There’s a lot of supply and great opportunities to buy.”

Across the nation, particularly in the Silicon Valley, Nashville, and our Nation’s Capital, Washington D.C., sales of high-end residential homes are up by staggering percentages:

  • San Jose, CA has seen a 27% increase
  • Nashville, TN reports a 13% increase in the sales of homes worth $1 million and more
  • Washington DC sales are also up by 20%

Miguel Almaguer of NBC reports that there are 3 primary driving factors for the increased stability in the high-end market:

  1. Better interest rates available to the buyers in this market
  2. Increased stability in the stock market
  3. Perceived “bargain” prices for homes at this level of the market
